El Águila o Punta Llana - San Sebastián
This beach, located very close to the Puntallana viewpoint, is on the border of the municipalities of Hermigua and San Sebastián de La Gomera. At 650 metres long and 30 metres wide, it’s one of the longest beaches in the area. Its a rocky place which makes access unsuitable for those with reduced mobility.
La Cueva - San Sebastián
A track next to the pier in San Sebastián de La Gomera, on the east of the island, takes you to La Cueva, one of the two beaches in the capital city. With dark sand and calm seas, it has the perfect conditions for a wonderful day at the beach with friends or family. The views are truly spectacular: this little spot on La Gomera affords one of the best views of Mount Teide. It is perfect for disconnecting, enjoying the silence, the sun and a dip in the crystal-clear water, in a truly relaxing atmosphere.
San Sebastián - San Sebastián
Located in the heart of the town which shares its name, San Sebastián beach in La Gomera is 600 metres long and has fantastic volcanic sand. You can swim in the local, transparent water and enjoy spectacular views of the island of Tenerife and the Teide volcano at the same time. You can also find restaurants and shops nearby. These places are great for food as well as retail therapy.
La Guancha - San Sebastián
Located in a virgin environment, three kilometres from the capital of La Gomera, this beach stretches to 500 metres long and 70 metres wide. Its volcanic sand and blue water are framed by mountainous peaks. Because of the wildness of the place it’s a perfect spot for nature lovers.
El Cabrito - San Sebastián
El Cabrito is a medium-sized beach with calm water located in the municipality of San Sebastián de la Gomera. The beach is dark and is made up of sand, pebbles and gravel.
Oroja o La Roja - San Sebastián
Located in the municipality of San Sebastián de La Gomera, this spot is known as either Playa Oroja or La Roja. Its dimensions are 500 metres by 35 metres. Thanks to its isolated location and difficulty of access, nudists frequent the area. Many people come to this spot aboard a boat from the nearby San Sebastián marina.
El Guincho - San Sebastián
In the municipality of San Sebastián de La Gomera on the south coast of the island, Guincho beach is a spectacular setting. The hidden spot, which measures 200 metres by 30 metres, has turquoise waters and rocky surroundings. It’s a favourite place for naturism lovers.
Chinguarime - San Sebastián
Located in the municipality of San Sebastián on the island of La Gomera, this beach is ideal for those seeking tranquility. It’s dimensions are 800 metres by 30 metres. Nudists often frequent the area which has a moderate swell. Access is difficult and can only be made on foot or by boat. This fact has kept visitor numbers low.
El Medio - San Sebastián
Playa del Medio beach has dark sand mixed with gravel. It’s part of a series of consecutive beaches, including Chinguarime beach and Tapahuga beach. Like its sister beaches, El Medio belongs to the municipality of San Sebastián de La Gomera. It’s a popular spot with nudists because it’s located in an isolated environment that’s difficult to access.
Tapahuga - San Sebastián
Located in the municipality of San Sebastián de La Gomera, this beach is mainly made up of sand, pebbles and gravel. Its dimensions are 350 metres by 30 metres. The area is known for its calm waters and its lack of plant life, although there are plenty of crops and mountains nearby.
Santiago - Alajeró
Bathed by calm seas is one of the largest beaches on La Gomera. Playa de Santiago is in Alajeró, in the south of the island, next to the fishing port and marina. Due to its many caves and the amazing variety to be seen on the seabed here, it is perfect for diving. The crystal-clear water affords great visibility for viewing the underwater scenery and the different species that inhabit this area of the coast and fascinate fans of sea life. A range of diving, snorkelling and kayak excursions are available at Playa de Santiago.
Ereses - Alajeró
Within the municipality of Alajeró, at the bottom of a ravine between two cliffs, this beach is surrounded by mountains. Its calm waters and dark sand make it an ideal place for those looking to escape. Although access isn’t easy, the traveler who dares to reach its sand will be amazed by the rocky landscape and the contrast of turquoise waters and the earthier tones of the mountains.
La Cantera - Alajeró
This beach is barely 300 metres long and 20 metres wide. It’s one of the most inaccessible spots on the quiet island of La Gomera. Located in the municipality of Alajeró, it can only be accessed by boat or on foot. The closest road is the GM-2. The calm waters and paradisiacal atmosphere make it a perfect place for those who seek tranquility.
La Negra - Alajero
Nestled at the end of a ravine, this beach has crystal clear waters and black sand. It’s located in the municipality of Alajeró, on the south coast of the island of La Gomera. It measures 250 metres by 30 metres. You can only access the area on foot or by boat, so visitor numbers are usually low even in summer.
La Rajita - Vallehermoso
Located at the end of a ravine in the municipality of Vallehermoso, and measuring 40 metres by 20 metres, this rocky beach has calm waters. It’s an ideal spot if you want to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist centres. Rajita retains a special charm and is practically virgin. Access is difficult, so occupancy rates don’t exceed 25%, even in high season.
Iguala - Vallehermoso
Located in the municipality of Vallehermoso and with beautiful views of the rock that gives the beach its name, this spot has pebbles and black sand. The crystal clear waters offer rest and relaxation. The beach is rarely busy and is ideal for diving—thanks to the calm local water.
Argaga - Vallehermoso
The Playa Argaga beach is made up of pebbles and black volcanic sand. Its dimensions are 350 metres by 30 metres. Located on the border that separates the municipalities of Vallehermoso from Valle del Gran Rey, this spot is also adjacent to Puerto de Vueltas, a multipurpose port that is used for sporting events as well as for fishing and other commercial purposes.
Vueltas - Valle Gran rey
Vueltas Beach is in a semi-urban area of Valle Gran Rey, on the southwestern coast of La Gomera, and next to the port with the same name. Its dark, volcanic sand and the lack of waves, as the sea is sheltered by a breakwater here, make it perfect for a peaceful swim. Walks along the seashore are also very pleasant, breathing the sea breeze or shopping at any of the nearby shops. The fishing boats resting on the sand lend a really delightful seaside atmosphere to the beach.
La Puntilla - Valle Gran rey
At 1,400 metres long and 30 metres wide, this beach is the largest in La Gomera. Divided into two by rocks, it has black sand and calm, transparent water. Its seabed is very high quality and great for diving.
La Calera - Valle Gran Rey
The beach of La Calera is set amongst the cliffs and banana groves of Valle Gran Rey and is the largest beach in this popular tourist destination in the west of La Gomera. A kilometre in length, it’s the best beach for children on the whole of the island: the calm waters and volcanic sand will delight the little ones, who will have plenty of fun building sand castles and playing in the sun.
El Inglés - Valle Gran Rey
Since the seventies, Playa del Inglés in La Gomera, has been a legendary destination for 'hippy' and alternative movements. Unlike other unspoilt and naturist beaches in the Canary Islands, this destination is close to restaurants, entertainment and other services. There is even a sports centre. It is a short walk to the volcanic sand where one can relax and take in the views of the mountains and the endless ocean. The perfect holiday cocktail.
Heredia - Valle Gran Rey
Playa de Heredia is located in Valle del Gran Rey which is the second most populated municipality in La Gomera. The beach is only accessible by boat. Also, there are strong waves in the area, so it’s not recommended for swimming. The landscape is fabulous however.
Guariñen - Valle Gran Rey

Playa de Guariñen, near Taguluche, is a pebble beach that’s located in the northwest of La Gomera. Swimming isn’t recommended if the sea is very rough. You can access the spot via a path.

Alojera - Vallehermoso

Playa de Alojera is located in the town of the same name in the municipality of Vallehermoso. The beach is one of the largest and most beautiful on La Gomera. Its dimensions are 200 metres by 40 metres. There is black, volcanic sand and crystal clear waters which make it a popular spot for people visiting the area. This is a rustic setting to enjoy the ocean. There is an old, abandoned pier nearby. Amenities include showers and a site for food and drink.

El Trigo - Vallehermoso
Located in the municipality of Vallehermoso, this beach has small rocks and turquoise water. It’s one of the most spectacular spots in La Gomera. Nestled between two cliffs, access is only available on foot.
Vallehermoso - Vallehermoso
Located in the municipality of Vallehermoso, just 3 kilometres from the city centre, this black sand and pebble beach is a tourist favourite. The water temperature is around 20 degrees almost all year round. A maritime park is also local. It has a swimming pool and a restaurant that’s open 365 days of the year.
La Sepultura - Vallehermoso
This virgin beach in the north of La Gomera is 400 metres long and 30 metres wide. It’s made up of a mixture of sand and stones. Because of the northern location the crystal clear water can get rough at times and strong waves can hit the coast.
San Marcos - Agulo
Located in the charming town of Agulo, the beach of San Marcos has the characteristic black sand of La Gomera. There are strong waves in the area which makes swimming difficult. Visitors come for the great landscape, but the spot isn’t usually very crowded. Please note that, although there are a few services, toilets are not provided.
Hermigua - Hermigua
Located in a bay in the Hermigua Valley, in the north of La Gomera, this beach is one of the best known in the area. It has fine black sand of volcanic origin. The waves are moderate but still only suitable for experienced swimmers. For those who love comfort, this beach has numerous services including sun umbrellas, hammocks, showers, telephones, and a 50-space car park.
La Caleta de Hermigua - Hermigua
Considered one of the jewels of La Gomera, and one of the most beautiful beaches in the Canary Islands, this spot is located in the north of the island and lies within the municipality of Hermigua. Its calm waters and black sand have made it a favourite for of tourists and locals alike. Please note that the spot is ten minutes from the town centre, and visitors are asked to keep the facilities in perfect condition.
